In my growing process, there are many things I want to do…Firstly, I want to a cooker, then a zookeeper, followed by a teacher. In the second year when I had a deep understanding of psychology, I felt quite sure about my career, that is to engage in work related to commercial psychology in the future. I learned about the effect of consumer psychology on their economic behavior in the coursework essay in which I evaluated how the nudging grid can be used to manipulate decisions based on past literature and analysis, presenting the applications of the nudge framework with critical analysis. Meanwhile, I also turned to books and journals for answers because of my curiosity and interest in consumer psychology, such as Psychological Analysis of Economic Behaviour and Psychological Economics by Katona, G. (1901–1981). I am pretty sure consumer psychology is where I belong.

The career self-efficacy/digital capability questionnaire gives me a very great opportunity to realize to what extent my confidence and digital ability is when faced with my future career. I was surprised that how confident I am when referred to the area of future career and how unfamiliar I am when faced the questions about digital ability. After completing the questionnaire, I realized that questions about “digital ability” were a totally different area that I did not pay attention to before. Also, and that it was something I needed to develop in order to feel prepared for jobs that may include digital elements.

It surprised me again when I received my scores because I thought that my digital ability and confidence were lacking. However, the scores turned out to a large extent higher than the year average. It means that my confidence and capability were considerably above the average.

Another reflection on my career readiness is to review my CV again. After finishing this questionnaire I realized that I did not “sell myself ” well in some aspects. In the process of the career self-efficacy/digital capability questionnaire, I find myself confident in certain job areas. However, when I have a look at the CV again, I find it is too general and vague rather than showing my personality and my own understanding of consumer psychology. I asked myself some questions which involve can others find who I really am after my CV? what the nature difference between my CV with others? Afterward, I revised my CV in a more clear way especially about my certainty of consumer psychology. In the long-term, my ultimate goal is to seek opportunities of starting businesses to make changes in the world with a critical mind, deep knowledge of human thinking, and real-world behaviors that I gain from the master's program. In addition, I also find some useful articles and books which can be helpful in forming an effective CV.(for example https://www.careers.govt.nz/job-hunting/cvs-and-cover-letters/how-to-write-a-cv/)

In conclusion, the whole thing make it clear to me:

  1. That I am certain a career in consumer psychology is the path that suits my skills and interests;
  2. That it takes reflection and modification to improve your CV and no one can create a perfect CV from the very beginning.

The reflection on the questionnaire, and revisiting my CV was a wonderful experiences. It make me learn more about how to market my self and improve my CV efecctively.
